Marielle Septien, Program Associate
Born in Texas, Marielle spent her summers traveling to Mexico where most of her extended family still live. The disparities between these two countries and their cultures led her to study various international affairs including migration and political economy, at St. Edward's University in Austin, TX. After researching immigration for eight months in Sevilla, she decided she would pursue work within the development field. Upon graduating, Marielle worked as a Political/Econ Intern at the US Embassy in Montevideo, a Fulbright English teacher in Madrid, and in various non-profit work in Austin as a microfinance adviser, DACA paralegal and employment specialist for immigrant, refugee, and veteran communities. She is currently pursuing an MA in Latin American Studies with a concentration in Development at Georgetown's School of Foreign Service, where she hopes to attain the knowledge and skills needed to work in the development sector.
