Destination Media
Raise Awareness, Facilitate Participation and Promote Stewardship
Destination media solutions are interactive media platforms that promote well-managed tourism and wise destination stewardship. These strategies focus on building strong community alliances of the local individuals and organizations that are most familiar with the unique environmental, cultural, historical and scenic assets of a destination. By engaging a wide array of stakeholders, our media solutions are able to convey a destination’s varied attributes to both local residents and visitors.
Solimar has partnered with National Geographic Maps to create these unique products. The combination of the development and marketing expertise of Solimar, the design capabilities of National Geographic Maps, the brand and distribution of National Geographic publications, as well as the involvement of the destination’s local stakeholders, helps promote and protect a destination’s distinctive characteristics. This product serves as a tool to engage local communities and raise local and international awareness while promoting the principles of sustainable tourism.
Sustainable Tourism Approach
Our sustainable tourism approach encourages the sustainability and enhancement of a destination’s unique and delicate assets. We believe that it is important to engage local people and to care about their place. Therefore, what makes our approach to media solutions uniquely successful is its primary focus on building strong community alliances in the destination itself. The collaboration of local and regional partners can help solve development challenges more efficiently, increase businesses’ profitability and better ensure the preservation of the region’s cultural and environmental heritage.
Utilizing this approach, our destination media solutions accomplish several objectives for a destination:
- Brand it as a premiere sustainable destination through innovative marketing solutions and network building;
- Increase the number of—and length of stay by—conscientious travelers to the destination;
- Provide a mechanism for regional tourism businesses to better cooperate to achieve key goals that will increase profitability and manage local challenges; and
- Equip local stakeholders with the tools to ensure the preservation of the destination’s cultural and environmental landscape while bolstering the capacity of local businesses to utilize sustainable operations.
